Why Financial Knowledge Is One of the Best Investments You Can Make
With two people in a relationship who have different spending habits and different thoughts and ideas about money all together it is no wonder that statistically money problems are one of the main sources of arguments, relationship issues, and even divorce.
This is due in part to the lack of open and honest communication about finances. But if you and your significant other never talk about money and how you plan on managing it together, you will never achieve real financial success.
If you are committed to sharing your loves together, then you cannot lead two entirely different financial lives. You have to find common ground and come together to set clear financial goals for where you both want to be and want to accomplish.
Talk About Your Goals
The first thing that you need to do as a table is talk about your overall financial goals. Ask each other what you want to accomplish financially in 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years.
There is no wrong answer, so do not criticize or try to shoot down each other’s goals as you are merely taking time to get a better understanding of what is import to each of you.
Find Common Ground
Once each of you have put your goals on the table, you need to meet together on common ground. What is it that you both can agree on that makes sense for your relationship? Is it buying a house? Paying for college education? Planning for a family? No matter what it is just make sure it’s something that you both can agree to be important.
